Maturing the Harvest Through the Going Deep Initiative

Dear Melanie

The Association of Free Churches in Thailand (AFT) believes the Great Commission is a call to make disciples, not just converts. By following Jesus’ command in Matthew 28 to go, baptize, and teach, we ensure that every new AFT believer is nurtured. Our work flows through three intentional stages: Going Wide, Going Deep, and Going Strong.

While I often write about our Going Wide efforts as we enter new territory, the Going Deep phase is where the roots of faith truly take hold. Of the nine provinces where AFT has a presence, three have completed the Going Wide phase, every village has a church. We are now returning to these village churches to encourage and strengthen the  local leaders and believers. This heart-to-heart ministry has already resulted in 514 additional new churches in these provinces and over 3,500 new members joining our family of faith. We are witnessing a powerful transition from a broad Christian presence to a mature, multiplying spiritual movement.

Our mission does not end with a  prayer; it begins there. As we solidify these foundations, we are not just building churches—we are raising up a generation of Thai believers equipped to lead their own communities into the light of the Gospel for years to come.

Blessings,

Dwight & Mary Kay Martin

The Trinity in Translation
We would be honored if you would explore this theological article Dwight co-wrote with
Dr. Kelly Hilderbrand from the Bangkok Bible Seminary. It is a challenging read, but the insights are vital for translating the Gospel across world views.

The study investigates the tension between Western and Thai ontology, demonstrating why traditional Western categories often fail to translate. We offer a path toward a faithful, biblical expression of the Godhead that resonates with the Thai heart.
