Dear Kirk

A piece of information I share frequently with Thai Christian leaders is the fact that 75% of sub-districts in Thailand have no churches. More than 38 million people live in these sub-districts. The question I always ask them is “How are we going to reach these people?”

The truth is there are not enough pastors or missionaries to go to all areas. Pastors and missionaries consist of less than 2% of the Christian population in Thailand. To reach these unreached it will require Thai church members to become the “hands and feet” of Jesus.

However most church members feel inadequate or insufficiently trained to be involved in evangelism and discipleship. Only four percent of church members are involved with making disciples on a regular basis.

To encourage them and help increase the number of Thai disciple makers we established a nationwide discipleship project called “Follow Me”. This project is a partnership between the eSTAR Foundation, Every Home for Christ-Thailand, the Church of Brook Hills and Radical. The materials are from David Platt’s “Follow Me” training resources that have been translated into Thai.

We are mailing these books to over 4,000 churches. Within each envelope is a letter stating that if their church is willing to host a “Follow Me” seminar we will send a trainer to them for in-depth training. If they cannot attend a training seminar we provided a website so they can be trained over the Internet. (http://estar.or.th/followme)

Before the books were even mailed, twenty four churches indicated an interest in receiving “Follow Me” training. In fact, the first seminar took place on August 14 & 15 in Chonburi province. Over 200 people were in attendance. Another seminar is scheduled for September 4 & 5 in Nakorn Rachisma province.

Please pray for the “Follow Me” project. Pray that God will use it to train up thousands of disciple makers. Pray that He will use them to reach the millions in Thailand that have not heard the Gospel message.

We praise God for the Church at Brook Hills and Radical for providing the resources so this national discipleship program could come to fruition.

Especially pray for the staff of Every Home for Christ-Thailand as they travel around the nation training church members.

Thank you for partnership that allows us do this work God has given us.

Blessings,

Dwight & Mary Kay Martin
