The Martin Chronicles

August 2012

Dear Kirk

Everyday we are aware that without your prayers and support our ministry could not be sustained here in Thailand.  We are so grateful to you. Over the next few months we will be speaking and traveling schedule and we covert your prayers during this time.

Part of our travels will be in the United States and we hope that while we are there we can connect with you personally.  Here is our schedule from now until the end of December;

August 18th - speak to 500 Thai pastors in Chiangmai on the status of the church in this province, to encourage them to be intentional in training their church members to be missionaries to the rest of the country.  A way this country can be reached for Christ is when Chiangmai Christians are impassioned and empowered to be the hands and feet of Christ and to reach out to their fellow citizens.

August 22-24 - travel to the province of Saraburi to share with the Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand on the status of the Thai church

August 29-30 - travel to Nakorn Panom province to meet with a Thai pastor and go with him to visit several Thai public shools about  a new project we are starting called "English Teachers for Thailand".  We are working with mission agencies and churches in the US and hope to recruit  hundreds of "mid-term" missionaries to come to Thailand for up to two years.  They would teach spoken English in public schools and at the same time work in partnership with the local Thai church.  The Thai school will pay them a salary so they don't have to raise full support.  If you are interested in being a mid-term missionary to Thailand please call us.  If you have a Bachelor's Degree and speak native English you qualify!

September 26-27 - travel to Bangkok for a meeting sponsored by Thailand Evangelism and Church Growth Committee.  This meeting is with  200+ Thai pastors from every province.  Dwight will be speaking about the state of the Thai church and the need for them to be intentional about training their church members to become disciple-makers.

September 30 - Travel to Minnesota

Oct 4 - 10 Speak at Crossroads Alliance Church's (Brooklyn Park MN) mission conference.

Oct 11-17 Participate in River's Edge Church"s (Watertown, MN)  mission conference.

Oct 18-24 Speak at Hope Community Church's (Cottage Grove MN) mission conference.

Oct 25-28 Speak at Maple Plain Community Church (Maple Plain  MN) mission conference.

Month of November - travel to Birmingham.  Still making plans for this month.  We have many open dates and plan to contact as many churches and friends as we can.  If you would like to contact us first, please connect with us by phone or email (see below for contact info)

Month of December - travel back to MN and spend time with family and friends before returning to Thailand on December 30.

Specific prayer requests during this time.

1.  Strength and good health
2.  Safety as we travel
3.  For our staff in Thailand that they won't have any problems while we are gone
4.  For the young Dutch couple, Evert-Jan and Martien, who will be supervising our office while we are away.
5.  That would God provide housing and a car(s) at the various places we are going to be in the US.
6.  For the Thai pastors and their church members.  That they will get a vision and a desire to be missionaries to  their own people

We hope to see many of you soon.

Blessings,

Dwight & Mary Kay Martin
