May 2021 Update from the Martin's in Thailand
May 2021
The day we visited Mr. Sompan at his house

Dear Norm
One of the things I have learned from working with the FJCCA is that Thai people don’t want to hear about the Christian religion or Christian worldview, what they want is answers to their problems in life. That is why we (the FJCCA)  bring Jesus to them by telling them that if they have a problem in life, Jesus can help you!.  As a result I have met thousands of Thai people whom Jesus has helped.  Mostly by receiving a peace and joy they never had before, but some, like Mr. Sompan, receive miracles
Mr.  Sompan Yumwilai is 70 years old man who lives in Dong Pa Kham village in Phichit province.  He heard about Jesus when “Ruth” and her FJCCA church planting team  from the Taphan Hin mother church went to his village on November 12, 2020.
I recently heard how Jesus healed his eyesight so I wanted to meet him to see if it was true.  Last month I went to his house where he told me that as he aged his eyesight was getting worse. He  had  double vision, was always dizzy and had headaches. The doctors told him surgery may fix his problem.  He didn’t want surgery because it was expensive and it scared him.   So instead he reached out to Jesus and said, “Jesus, I have a problem with my eyes, please help me!”  And Jesus did!  The next day he started seeing clearly, his double vision was gone!  I met  him about one month after he was healed.  It  was obvious to me he could see clearly and was not suffering.  Just to make sure I asked if he saw one of me or two of me.  He assured me there was only one of me.  Now he is telling everyone else what Jesus has done for him.   Almost everyone in his village knew he had vision problems and now that he is healed he his telling them what Jesus can do for you.
The FJCCA's job is to disciple people by telling them that Jesus can help you. (most Thais have never heard of Jesus.) Once they pray to believe in Jesus we immediately disciple them on how to have a relationship with Jesus through prayer.  After they have a realtionship with Jesus we then teach them who Jesus  is. He is the creator of the world and the only god that can save you from their sin and karma.
This is not the traditional western method of making disciples. What it is, is a very appropriate Thai method that is effective.  I believe it would work in many other countries as well.

Travel Plans

Thailand is having its 3rd Covid wave and as result things have slowed down. I decided this would be a good time for me to visit the US.  My purpose in going is to get a Covid 19 vaccination because I do not know when I will get one In Thailand.   I am excited to visit Rosalie, my granddaughter, whom I have never met in person.  I also want to visit with friends and ministry partners.
I leave on May 23 and will be in Washington State for four days.  I then travel to Alabama and plan to be there two weeks before travelling to Minnesota.  In mid-July Mary Kay and I will fly back to Thailand together. We will spend two weeks in quarantine in a Bangkok hotel before returning to Chaing Mai the first week of August.
Please contact me at dmartin@estar.ws if you would like to get together when I am in your area.  I would love to visit with you.

Thank you for being ministry partners with us.  Without you we could not be here.

Blessings,

Dwight and Mary Kay
