Dear Kirk

Last weekend we had an opportunity to drive to the ancient city of Sukhothai.  The city is around 700 years old and is considered the birthplace of Thai culture and language.  As a result, it has a very strong Buddhist heritage and is resistant to the gospel.   This province only has 1,350 Christians among a population of over 600,000 people.

We went to visit and encourage Pastor "Ken" Itajuck and speak at his church on Sunday.   Pastor Ken is a dynamic pastor with a strong passion to reach the entire Sukhothai province with the gospel.

On Saturday he took us to see the ancient city.  It's amazing to think that this place was a thriving city when London, England was just a village.  That evening we had dinner with his leadership team.

Sunday was a big event for the church because they very seldom  have a speaker from "America" come and speak.  They invited dozens of people from the surrounding area to come and be part of the service.  There were over 300 in attendance.

Knowing that everyone in attendance came from a Buddhist background, who don't believe in a creator God, I shared with them how God created each one of the uniquely.  I told them how much God loves them and that they were very special to Him. After my message several came forward to accept Christ.

Please be in prayer for Sukhothai Mission Church.  They are praying that by the end of the year to have over 1,000 members and a daughter church in every district of Sukhothai province.

Will you pray for them and with them, that they will fulfill their vision and that God will be glorified?

Pastor Ken is also interested in having short term mission teams come teach spoken English, distribute Christian literature in villages and minister together with them.  If you or your church is interested in being involved in this type of ministry please let us know.

Blessings,
