Dear Kirk
As you read this email and over the next week please be in prayer for the city of Chiang Mai and neighboring villages.
This has been an unusual year because the amount of rain we have received. Here in Chiang Mai we were feeling fortunate because we have had no flooding like many other areas of Thailand.
Well, that all changed on Tuesday night. That evening it rained very hard for over 10 hours. As a result we have major flooding all around the city. Many of the houses of our employees, friends and their families are in water.
Please pray for them as they recover from the floods. There is a threat of a another typhoon on Friday. If we receive more rain it will be even more of a disaster.
Mary Kay and I feel fortunate because our house and office is still dry. Our immediate concern is for our office, which is close to the Ping river. As we left work today, the water was still rising about 25 feet away from our office. It would have to rise about another 2 feet before we would be in trouble. Please pray that won't happen.
One of the good things that has come out of this is we have been able to meet some of our Thai neighbors near the office. This was something we have been wanting to do and the flood provided a good opportunity to do just that.
Thank you for your prayers
