Dear Kirk

The first quarter of 2012 has been very busy for us. We wanted to share briefly some of what we have been doing.

At the end of January we finished the 2011 Census of the Thai church. The results were made available on-line so ministries can make informed decisions about where to serve in this country. You can view the map by clicking on the following link: http://e-star.ws/ws/index.php/en/christian-map-of-thailand.  The feedback we have received regarding this new tool from missionaries and Thai pastors has been very encouraging.  They find it very valuable for the work they do.

One of the surprising results we discovered was during the past four years 36% of all new believers in Thailand are from the province of Chiang Mai. In fact, 9.57% of all new believers for the whole country are from the city of Chiang Mai alone. God is working in this province and this city. However, we also believe with this blessing comes greater responsibility.

As a member of the Thailand Evangelism & Church Growth Committee, both nationally and for the province of Chiang Mai, Dwight has been traveling to all areas in Chiang Mai province sharing with Thai pastor the results of the 2011 Thai Church Census. He has been casting a vision to these pastors showing them that the way Thailand will be reached with the gospel is when their church members become missionaries to the rest of the country.  There are not enough foreign missionaries or Thai pastors to get the job done.

One out of every 19 Thai citizens in Chiang Mai province is a Christian compared to the other provinces where the ratio is around 700 to 1.  In one province the ratio is 9,500 people per Christian. Please be in prayer that Christians in Chiang Mai will catch this vision for their nation.

Thank you for your prayers and support for our work in Thailand

Blessings,

Dwight & Mary Kay Martin
