Last week was the general meeting of the Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand (EFT). Most evangelical denominations working in Thailand are under the EFT. On the first day I was asked to present the status of the Protestant church in Thailand. To support this meeting we compiled, printed and distributed a book called 2016 Diverse Perspectives on the Protestant Church in Thailand containing dozens of charts, graphs and maps to convey this information. I was then given the opportunity to present my findings.

As I spoke I shared the great need for the gospel in this nation. Even though the gospel arrived in Thailand over 185 years ago, 62% of the people still have no access to the gospel - 38 million people. Among the ethnic Thai the percent Christian is 0.31%. To change this, I encouraged them to participate fully in the Thai national plan to reach this nation for Christ. It will require a partnership of all groups working in unity to accomplish this great task.

One of the ways we have participated in this task is by printing prayer cards of each sub-district in Thailand that has no church – over 5,421 sub districts (cards). Using the Harvest Church Database and our POD printing system we printed a card of each sub-district that has no church. We then gave a card to each attendee.

As I spoke I told them everyone was given a unique card and that God had arranged for you to get that card. If you want a church in that location it starts with your prayer. At the end of the week all 5,421 cards we had printed were distributed. Many of the church leaders took hundreds of cards back with them so their church members can receive a card to pray for an unreached area.

The first time we gave out these prayer cards was last year at Thailand 8th National Congress of Evangelism. This week I heard stories how God has used that distribution to change people’s hearts. One story is about a church member who had been praying diligently that God would send someone to start a church in the location listed on her card. One day God spoke to her and said that person is you! Her church is now preparing her to go and start a house church in that area. PTL!

Please pray that many more Thai church members will get the same calling to leave their homes and become missionaries in their own country. We believe that this is only the start. Pray that the Thai denominations will work together in unity to fulfill their vision of reaching every sub-district for Christ by the year 2030.
