Dear Norm

These are difficult times for everyone, no one is spared.  As we all go through this  time, we pray that you and your family will be healthy and have all your needs met.  Because of your concern and love for us we want to update you on what is happening on our side of the world.

So far the number of cases of Covid19 in Thailand are much less than in the United States. We hope it is because of the hot weather in Thailand.  However, until this crisis passes and research is done, we won’t know the reason.
.

In Chiang Mai we have another serious concern that is also dangerous.  For the past few weeks Chiang Mai has been rated the most polluted city in the world.  Some days it is so smoky it looks like fog.  The reason for the pollution is fires burning in the mountains that surround Chiang Mai. As a result we get headaches, scratchy throats and feel tired.  Sometimes we wonder if what we are experiencing is from Covid19 or just the pollution.  We have only 4 weeks left before the rainy season begins which will clear out the smoke. Hopefully by that time the virus will have slowed down as well.

As a result of the virus all our meetings were cancelled.  We have shut the office down and told employees to work from home, though a couple of our staff have decided to work at the office which we are grateful for.

Since FJCCA church planters can’t travel to new villages at this time we are encouraging them to spread the gospel further in their own village.  This is working and as a result people are still coming to Christ!

In addition, FJCCA leaders are using social media to disciple people.  I set up an online learning system to use with their training.  They are in the process of testing  this out. If it works well we will teach more courses this way.

On the family side, in January our daughter Crystal and her husband Brad gave birth to our first grandchild, Rosalie, Mary Kay was able to be with Crystal for three weeks after the baby was born but returned to Thailand in early February.

We desperately want to be together with them but as of now we will pray and wait.  Maybe by June or July we can travel to the US to get to know baby Rosalie.

We  believe this difficult time will open new opportunities to share the gospel in Thailand. Even traditional churches are wondering about their big buildings and maybe small house churches are the answer.  Wouldn’t that be amazing if they can catch the vision of house churches and learn from the FJCCA so that every village in Thailand can hear about Jesus?

Thank you for your prayer and support for this ministry.  As you pray for us, we will be praying for you.

Blessings in Jesus,
