Dear Norm
Last month proved to be a bustling yet fulfilling period for us as we actively participated in the 9th Congress of Evangelism and Discipleship held in Chiang Mai. Among our team members, Dwight held a prominent role as a board member of the Congress as the leader of the research committee. His presence was highly valued, and he had the honor of addressing over 4,000 attendees present at the event, with thousands more tuning in online. Dwight's speech centered on a crucial topic: how to effectively make disciples in Thailand by presenting the gospel in a manner that resonates with the Thai people. We invite you to watch Dwight's insightful presentation in the video provided above.
Following his talk, our booth received a significant influx of pastors who sought further information. Notably, one senior pastor expressed that Dwight's presentation was nothing short of "revolutionary." The concepts shared were easy to comprehend, firmly grounded in Scripture, and departed from the traditional approach to sharing the gospel in Thailand.. Basically, Dwight introduced principles used by the Association of Free Churches in Thailand that have proven effective in reaching the Thai people.
The AFT revival has now extended its reach to Northeast Thailand, expanding from Central Thailand. On May 10, we celebrated the baptism of 1,208 individuals in Khon Kaen province. Our efforts in Khon Kaen continue in the districts of Mancha Khiri, Nong Rua, and Phu Wiang, where we are diligently visiting 388 villages to form house churches. Once every village has a house church, we establish district churches.
Currently, the Christian population in this area stands at 0.12%, but by the end of the year, we anticipate it will surpass 1%. In November, we are preparing for another baptism service in Khon Kaen for those who will be hearing the Gospel for the first time.
Just two days later, on May 12th, we held another baptism service, this time in Central Thailand, where a remarkable 1,765 individuals were baptized. We consider ourselves immensely privileged to be part of this powerful revival unfolding in Thailand. Dwight, in particular, has been honored to meet and baptize hundreds of new Thai believers. Witnessing the incredible transformation God has brought into their lives as they leave behind their former ways and wholeheartedly follow Jesus has been truly awe-inspiring. The impact of the AFT's introduction of the Gospel message to these areas is undeniably shaping society for the better.
