June 2024 Ministry Update

Dear Norm

This video shows the transformative journey of “Nan,” detailing her path to faith in Jesus Christ. It chronicles her spiritual growth from a “newborn babe in Christ,” to her commitment as a baptized follower of Jesus. Nan’s story is one among thousands, each unique, yet her experience provides a glimpse into our discipleship process, meticulously adapted to resonate with the Thai cultural and spiritual landscape.

Baptism is presented not as a ritual but as a profound declaration of entering into a covenant with Jesus Christ. It marks a conscious departure from previous beliefs and deities, embracing Jesus as their sole Lord and Savior. This act of baptism parallels the significance of circumcision for the Jewish community, symbolizing a new covenantal bond with Christ. This pivotal concept is encapsulated in Colossians 2 and holds particular importance in the Thai context, where renouncing former spiritual practices is an essential step in one’s faith journey.

" 9 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. 11 When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.

13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

Colossians 2:9-15

We hope you found the video enlightening and that it further demonstrates the AFT's commitment to nurturing dedicated disciples of Jesus Christ.
